ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
- Be able to read and interpret basic cleaning supplies directions and/or instructions.
- Ability to lift at least eighty (50) pounds.
- Must be able to use an eight-foot ladder to do light custodial tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent GED.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Director of Maintenance and Custodial and Principal.
JOB GOAL: To maintain school facilities in a clean, safe, sanitary, and secure condition in which employees can work and students can learn, play and develop.
REQUIRED PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Keep building and premises including sidewalks, driveways and play areas neat and clean at all times.
- Shovel and/or plow sidewalks, driveways, parking areas and steps as appropriate.
- Check daily to ensure that all exit doors are locked and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
- Sweep classrooms and dusts furniture daily.
- Clean corridors after school each day and during the day when their condition requires it.
- Scrub and disinfect toilets, floors, and clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
- Wash all windows on both the inside and outside.
- Keep the grounds free from rubbish.
- Keep all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.
- Clean all whiteboards/chalkboards daily.
- Secure all windows and doors within areas of assigned responsibility.
- Maintain confidential nature of all school related matters.
- Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Maintenance and Custodial and Principal.
- Check with day custodian for an update on projects or issues needing attention.
- Disinfect all water fountains.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve months. Salary to be established by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION: Each employee will be evaluated by his/her supervisor(s) on a regular basis according to evaluation procedures established by the Board of Education. Evaluations will be based on general expectations for all employees, and the specific responsibilities of the position being evaluated.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND VISUAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. Additionally, the employee may occasionally be required to push or lift up to 50 lbs. as necessary for the safety and well-being of others. Lastly, this job requires the employee to have the vision ability to read handwritten or typed materials, and meet multiple demands from several people while interacting with other staff and the public.
