  1. Valid Missouri paraprofessional certificate and/or a minimum of 60 college credit hours.
  2. Criminal justice fingerprint and background clearance
  3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board and/or Superintendent may find appropriate

 

REPORTS TO:  Building Principal

 

JOB GOAL:    To work with supervisors, staff, students, and parents to facilitate successful learning experiences for children in the school.

                       

REQUIRED PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

           

  1. Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by certified staff.
  2. Assists the certified staff in devising special strategies for reinforcing learning materials and skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
  1. Monitors work, corrects papers, and supervises curriculum-based testing and makeup work as assigned by the certified staff.
  2. Serves as the chief source of information and help to any guest teacher assigned in the absence of the special education teacher.
  3. Performs clerical, classroom maintenance, and instructional duties as assigned by the certified staff.
  4. Alerts the certified staff to any problem or special information about an individual student.
  5.   Properly supervises students at all times and as requested by building administration.
  6. When requested, serves as a resource person to the General Education Intervention Team and/ or IEP Team.
  7. Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in school environment and community.
  8. Participates in in-service training programs as approved.
  9. Maintains safe working environment and encourages colleagues to be safety minded in the performance of all school-related duties.
  10. Performs other such duties / assignments as directed by the certified staff.
  11. Assists as directed by certified staff in the effort to successfully maintain students with special needs in an integrated setting, as determined by the IEP Team.
  12. Effectively collects and maintains evidence of yearly professional development hours.
  13. Works well as a team member to serve all constituencies.
  14. Adheres to and follows all deadlines and requirements as presented by administration / state / federal law.
  15. Attends all meetings as requested by building and district administration.
  16. Maintains strict confidentiality as required by law.
  17. Commits to life-long learning and growth.
  18. Performs any and all other related duties as assigned by the building principal.
  19. Follow schedule developed by building principal and classroom teacher to meet assigned obligations.
  20. Supervise students in the lunchroom, recess and during bus duty times as assigned by building principal.
  21. Assist student with personal care as needed.

           

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Board approved academic calendar + 1 additional day. Salary to be established by the Board of Education.

           

EVALUATION:  Each employee will be evaluated by his/her supervisor(s) on a regular basis according to evaluation procedures established by the Board of Education.  Evaluations will be based on general expectations for all employees, and the specific responsibilities of the position being evaluated.

 

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND VISUAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. Additionally, the employee may occasionally be required to push or lift up to 25 lbs. as necessary for the safety and well-being of others. Lastly, this job requires the employee to have the vision ability to read handwritten or typed materials, and meet multiple demands from several people while interacting with other staff and the public.
